Chapter 1-The start

The school year is almost over. It was endless. First year on a new school, new people and teachers, new knowledge. I am so glad the end is nearing. "Good morning class. Is everyone here? Ready to go?" asked our homeroom teacher Mrs Sanders. We are heading to some amusement park for school trip and all of my classmates are excited. I don't get them. My relationship with my class is complicated. They don't mind talking to me and being kind of awkward friends but outside of school we don't meet up. That is the best for me as well as them. I am not an interesting person for them to want to be around me even then. I rather focus on learning than on drinking and smoking. Sad truth they say. "Anett, Sarah get inside the bus we are leaving." with that two blonde girls in stylish clothes made their way to the back of the bus. Anett MacDoris is the oldest in our class. She has got long blonde hair and blue eyes. She is the only daughter of a rather famous businessman. He owns one half of a phone company. Sarah Tumper is her best friend. She also has blonde hair but brown eyes. She is from a rich family too. "Let's make a roll call just to be sure." said Mrs Sanders and started calling our names. "Gabrielle Jackson?" "Here." I answered. "Hey Riel can I play with your hair? Girls are mean again." pouted my best friend Louis. He has got black hair, long just enough to be put in a low ponytail and blue eyes. "Sure Lou." I chuckled and sat so that my back was turned to him. "Louis Wang?" "Here teacher!" he shouted. The teacher just shook her head. "Continue with your fun but please sit down. It is dangerous to stand." said Mrs Sanders. Louis just smiled and sat behind me. "You really help me out Jackson. I want to be the best hairdresser and your hair is gorgeous. Such a pretty dark brown color. If the sun wasn't shining it would seem as if they were black!" he said with excitement. Only he can get so worked up over a simple hair color. "Well, what are you waiting for? Do your magic Wang." I playfully ordered. He saluted and started working. Louis has been my friend since the start of elementary school. "Today a simple yet elegant braid will adore the head of our beautiful lady." he said treating me as if I were a princess. "Of course. Can't wait to see your hard work servant." I told him haughtily. We burst out laughing. Most of our way to the amusement park was spent by endless hairstyles and jokes. Once we finally got out of the bus my hair was in a french braid with some strands falling into my face. "Perfect!" cheered Louis as he took some photos of his work. "Alright kids listen up! I want you to be by the entrance in 4 hours so that we can head back. You will be in groups of at least 6 people at all times! I want to see your groups now." said Mrs Sanders and we made groups. My group consisted of Louis, Anett, Sarah, Antony and Jake. Pretty good. The teacher sent us off and we made a bee-line towards the scariest attractions. We had a lot of fun, mainly when Anett and Sarah got out of boats and were soaking wet. We decided to go to the haunted house in the last an half hour we had left. "Hello ladies and gentlemen! This is the haunted mansion. Only the bravest can make it through." the man looked at us girls pointedly. "Excuse me? I am sure that we girls can make it through this 'haunted' mansion alone and without backing out!" said Sarah. "Is that a challenge I hear?" asked Antony mischievously. "You bet." I smirked. "Let the fun begin! As you are girls we will go first and assess the danger to make sure you don't run back." said Jake innocently."Go on." Sarah challenged. Louis wrapped his hands around my waist and bent down to breathe into my ear. "Too bad. I wanted to protect you from the dark princess." he said huskily and shivers ran down my spine. Damn him. I am gonna show him who is a scaredy cat. We waited for few minutes and then made our way into the building. We made it almost halfway through and the only thing that has gotten us scared was when a spider fell on Sarah's shoulder. Before you say anything she yells worse than a banshee. And spiders are scary. Suddenly I heard a noise from the room behind us. It sounded like footsteps. "Do you hear that?" I asked the girls quietly but they just shook their heads. I sighed. I am probably only paranoid. We ARE in the haunted mansion after all. We walked into the next room and froze. "Hello ladies. We have been waiting for you the whole day. How is your trip Anett, Sarah?" a tall muscular man dressed completely in black asked them as he took their chins into his hand. I couldn't see his face because of a mask he wore. "Don't worry Gabrielle. We haven't forgotten about you at all." said another man so similar to the first one only he was shorter. He put his arm firmly around me. "Let me go you creep!" I yelled as I tried to get out of his grasp. "No can do little Gabrielle. Now you are ours."he growled into my ear as he tightened his hold on me. "Who are you?!" I asked furiously. I felt him smirk against my neck. "Phantom." they said in the same time and my eyes went wide. Anett and Sarah collapsed and started crying. Phantom is the name of a recent kidnapper. He kidnapped more then 30 children. He doesn't care about the age. As long as the kids capture his attention they disappear. Neither of them are dead, that is what everyone is sure of. Phantom leaves a note with the child's name on the place of kidnapping. It always says the same thing. You forget the kids exist, they live. You search for them, they die. "So you know. Good for us then." the men, no, Phantom chuckled. I felt the grip that held me in place weaken and I didn't hesitate. I stomped on the mans foot with all my might and wriggled free. I made a run for it as I know I would never be able to fight them. My plan failed too soon as the other man tackled me to the floor. "Seems like we have a fighter Daniel." said the taller masked man who is pinning me to the floor currently. Daniel just grunted and started tying up my classmates who were totally paralyzed from fear. The man on top of me flashed me a wolfish grin as mouth was the only thing I could see from his face. "We were hoping not to ever use this but it seem like you gave us no choice Gaby." he told me and took an injection full of some liquid inside. I trashed more than before but he just put more of his weight on me, I could barely breathe. "Well, sleep well Gaby. Once we get home you should be all rested." He said and only then did I realize the dizziness that was starting to appear in my head. "L-lou..." I whispered. The last thing I heard was Daniel command the girls to stand up and get moving.
